WATCH: Major fire in Pointe St. Charles

Dozens of residents in Pointe St. Charles were forced out of their homes Thursday afternoon when a fire broke out in a building on the corner of Centre and Ropery.

There were no injuries because the building was under construction and workes were able to make it out unscathed.

Fire officials say the call came in for the four-alarm blaze around 2:00 p.m.

The fire reduced the building to mere rubble within about an hour and homes and businesses were without electricity for several hours.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
