Local Poles worry about consulate's downsizing

Local members of the Polish community are disappointed with the announcement that the Polish consulate on Pine Avenue will be sold.

The consulate was a popular venue for many Polish cultural events and they fear they will lose a valuable source of support.

The consul will move to a smaller office on Avenue du Musee and offer reduced services.

Some members of the Polish commnunity fear it's a potentially dangerous blow to local Polish culture.

The consulate hosted concerts, book readings, Polish language classes and other cultural activities.

But the consulate promises that they will continue to finance those activities.

They'll just have to do it at a different location.

The consulate will shutter its doors in July.
