Cannon returning to politics?

There is a report that the federal Conservatives are trying to convince former Liberal MNA and Conservative MP Lawrence Cannon to return to politics.

Cannon is serving now as Canada's ambassador to France.

He represented the Tories in Pontiac riding in the Outaouais but now the party may be considering him for a riding in the Quebec City area, where it is trying to grab seats away from the NDP.

Cannon told La Presse that his immediate plans are to focus on improving relations between Canada and France.

He accepted the three-year diplomatic posting in 2012.
