A major federal investment in Montreal aerospace company CAE for research and development.

The money will be spent on updating simulation technologies and come up with new ones.

Federal infrastructure minister Denis Lebel made the announcement.

"This new technology will have a wide-ranging impact, from advancing military training capabilities to prolonging the lifespan of aircrafts, all the while reducing carbon and noise emissions in the process", said Lebel.

CAE, one of the world's top aerospace companies, is working on developing new flight simulation software, including civil and military planes.

It's a five and a half-year project and the company is investing 500-million dollars of its own money.
