Veteran Liberal getting the boot after crossing Couillard

Verdun Liberal MNA Henri-Francois Gautrin will be kicked out of the Liberal Party caucus today and will be told he will not be allowed to run under the Liberal Party banner in the next election in the riding he has represented for almost 25 years.

Gautrin ran afoul of the Liberal Party executive two weeks ago, when just the day before Phillipe Couillard was to have to entered the National Assembly for the first time as Liberal party leader, predicted that the Parti Quebecois would win the next election.

The decision is not official yet, but this morning's La Presse says Gautrin's expulsion will happen today.

The newspaper says Couillard wants a star candidate with credentials in finance, to run in Verdun.
