Construction worker falls 12 stories to his death in Longueuil

A 36-year-old construction worker has died in hospital after he fell 12 stories at a condo construction site Wednesday afternoon in Longueuil.

The accident happened just before 1 p.m. at the worksite at 1155 St. Charles boulevard W., just a stone's throw from the Longueuil metro station.

It appears he was working on the building's roof, when for whatever reason, he fell off, and down an empty elevator shaft.

The worker's health and safety board is investigating — the CSST suggests he did have a safety harness — which didn't appear to have been properly fastened.
