Another leader from the former student crisis is running under the PQ colours in the riding of Groulx.
Martine Desjardins praised the Parti Quebecois' work on behalf of students as she and Pauline Marois smiled in front of the PQ campaign bus.
"The Parti Quebecois put money back in student's pockets by truly improving student aid," says Desjardins. Last year, she openly criticized the party for indexing tuition fees, and even suggested the party would pay come election time.
It was a matter Parti Quebecois leader laughed off. "We have had differences at times, on which we've reconciled some time ago," says Marois.
The student group ASSÉ says Desjardins is a PQ pawn.
"I really can't get my head around why Martine would run for the PQ after everything that the PQ has done," says Benjamin Gingras, co-spokesperson for ASSÉ.
He says the party has made cuts to the welfare and education system, is increasing daycare and hydro rates, and indexed tuition fees.
