PQ loses candidate after racist Facebook posts surface

The Parti Québécois has lost one of its candidates, after some racist Facebook posts surfaced.

Jean Carrière, the PQ candidate for the east-end Montreal riding of LaFontaine, is bowing out of the race after some of his Facebook posts started making the rounds of social media.

One post shows a topless woman giving the finger with the caption 'F*** Islam'.

He's also said to have praised the Marine Le Pen, the leader of the French extreme-right Front National party.

His candidate page has been removed from the PQ's web site, and his own Facebook page appears to have been taken down as well.

So it would appear that the protestations from the PQ that they were being unfairly accused of intolerance are ringing a bit hollow right now. Makes one wonder about the real attitudes of others in the party.

And there you have it.....a perfect example of the PQ`s intolerance towards everyone save the francophones in Quebec. To this I say shame on you Mr. Jean Carrière and to the PQ you should have done your homework.

How is "fuck islam" racist? Its not racist because Islam is not a race its a religion many different races follow the teachings of Islam. I hate a lot that Islam stands for such as honor killings, child marriages an child rape, women abuse etc... etc... but I don't hate all the races of people that follow its teachings.

@Brad shattler Very thought-out comment... "I hate a lot that Islam stands for such as honor killings, child marriages an child rape, women abuse etc... etc." shows how much you know about Islam and what it stands for.

You must be a by-product of the Québec education system... Re-educate yourself please, MAYBE you'll become less ignorant about what Islam stands for.

Is that really racism? Islam is not a race. (like Christianity is not a race.) Anyone of any race can become a Muslim if they want to.

You can call this bigotry if you want; that would be more accurate.

As much as I hate to say this but the PQ totally did the right thing and try to distance themselves away from this. I'm not sure what the uproar other people seem to be having. Had he been kept as a candidate, then there would be cause for concern.

Perhaps this also brings to light how other candidates could potentially have similar, but closeted, points of views but this is only anecdotal and speculative.

Actually his page is still active on facebook and people are still commenting to his recent status that he resigned as candidate... and blaming the media....
... how typical... it's easy to blame somebody else then oneself.
