CSL's Housefather looking to replace Cotler as MP

The mayor of Cote St. Luc is looking to get into federal politics.

Anthony Housefather says he'd like to replace Irwin Cotler as the Liberal candidate for the riding of Mount Royal.

Cotler announced last month that he wouldn't be running in the next election, tentatively scheduled for Oct. 19, 2015.

Housefather says as an MP he'd keep doing what he's already been doing.

"I would contuinue my practice of openly supporting and loudly supporting the provincial Liberal party in any Quebec election," Housefather says, "and I would campaign to the exten the local MNA want my support and my campaigning for them."

The federal Liberals still haven't said when they'll call for nominations in the riding.

A good opportunity for him to get a second generous pension guaranteed by tax payers, I mean a great opportunity to serve his constituents in a different capacity.
