Montreal businessman, Selwyn House student die in Alberta avalanche

A 33-year-old Montreal businessman and his 11-year-old son have been identified as the victims of an avalanche at the Lake Louise resort earlier this month.

Gabriel Mironov and his son Oliver were last seen on March 9 as they rented a toboggan at the Chateau Lake Louise, where they were staying.

They were reported missing last Friday, March 14, when they failed to check out.

Their bodies were discovered Saturday, buried in snow, at the base of Mount Fairview.

The slope on Mount Fairview is considered at high risk for avalanches, though there were no avalanche warnings posted in that specific area.

The elder Mironov, a New Brunswick native, had a history of working with wind technology companies. Oliver Mironov was a student at Selwyn House School in Westmount.
