There is a new public opinion poll this morning concerning the election and there is every indication that the race to election day April 7th remains wide open.
Published in la Presse this morning, the CROP poll says voter support for the Liberals has now climbed to 39%.
That's a gain of five percentage points since February.
The Parti Quebecois is at 36% support, down four points since February.
It is the first time the Liberals have led in popular support since the election was called
The poll indicates that the Liberal gains are coming at the expense of the CAQ whose support support has now fallen to just 13%.
CROP says this survey indicates that the race is wide-open, but because of consolidating support there is less likelihood of another minority government.
In terms of leadership:
27% of respondents to the poll said Philippe Couillard would be the best choice for Premier, 26% named Pauline Marois, and 14%said Francolis Legault.
Couillard's numbers are 5 points higher than a month ago, Marois slipped four points , and Legault gained one.
