UPDATED: Woman murdered in Lachine

A 30-year-old woman died in hospital after being shot, at least once, in the upper body Wednesday night.

"The event occurred on Pacific Avenue near George-Leclaire, that's in Lachine," said Constable Daniel Lacoursière of Montreal police.  Police later confirmed she was shot while sitting in the driver’s seat of a white SUV.

Police got a call about gun fire around 10:30 PM, and when they got to the scene, they found a vehicle parked on the street, and inside was the woman gravely injured, she was prononced dead in hospital.

“I feel terrible because I don’t know if the murderer lives in my building, or what, I feel scared,” a neighbour who lives in the apartment building in front of where the murder occurred said.

The investigation has been transferred to the major crimes division, but there is no motive for the murder.  Investigators were meeting with neighbours Thursday morning.

No arrests have been made.

This is the fifth homicide in Montreal this year.
