Charbonneau Commission doesn't want to be used for electoral purposes

The Charbonneau Commission released a statement Friday saying it would not allow any political parties to use it in political ads during the current election campaign — a direct response to an attack ad released by the Parti Québécois Thursday which uses a photo of justice France Charbonneau to attack the integrity of the Quebec Liberals.

Charbonneau's photo has since been yanked by the PQ.

The ad shows photos of 36 Liberal MNAs standing for relection on April 7, pointing out that each of them voted against the creation of the Charbonneau Commission — in some cases, as many as 11 times.

The tagline reads, "Nothing has changed at the PLQ."

The brief statement from the Commission stresses it is "apolitical and independent."

The Commission has suspended its hearings for the duration of the campaign.

Marois and her husband could easily have been put in the same add.
