Once again this weekend, roadwork on the Mercier bridge will help make getting to the south shore more difficult than usual.
The bridge will be closed completely in the southbound direction between 10 p.m. Friday evening and 5 a.m. Monday morning, while repairs take place underneath the bridge. It will be the second of five weekends the southbound lanes will be completely shut down within the next month and a half.
The northbound lanes will be open; there will be no southbound lanes available while the work goes on.
Meanwhile, the Jacques-Cartier bridge will be completely closed to traffic between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday morning for joint replacement work on the bridge's span. It's the second and final sheduled weekend for that work.
In addition, the yellow line of the metro will be closed completely for a third weekend, while extensive repair work takes place in the tunnels.
The yellow line will be closed for a total of 25 weekends in 2014, so that the work can proceed. A shuttle service will be in place.
