Fugitive former MUHC Director-General Arthur Porter wants to get out of a Panamanian prison and into a hospital.
In a letter, published in the Panamanian newspaper La Estrella this week, Porter claims to have received no medical care in the ten months he has spent behind bars and says he needs to be transferred to a hospital to be treated for his self-diagnosed Stage 4 lung cancer.
Porter claims the cancer has spread to his lymphatic system , liver and pelvis.
In the letter , Porter also complains about prison conditions describing them as inhumane run by people with no respect for human life.
Porter and his wife Pamela were arrested in May of 2013 when they flew to Panama from their home in the Bahamas.
Porter faces charges of fraud, conspiracy to commit government fraud, abuse of trust, secret commissions and laundering the proceeds of a crime related to the construction of the super-hospital.
He is continuing to fight his extradition.
Pamela Porter was returned to Montreal.
She has been charged with conspiracy and laundering the proceeds of crime and remains free on bail.
