A Montreal animal rescue and adoption service says it's having a hard time functioning without a laptop computer that contains all of its information.
Maggie Shuter, who runs Animal Adoption Montreal, says a thief smashed the window of her car outside a Pharmaprix on Lucerne Rd. in TMR on Wednesday evening and stole the MacBook.
She says she had to keep it open and running on the front seat of her car, because there were some problems with it. She was pencilled in with an Apple Store for a servicing appointment on Thursday.
"Since 2008, absolutely every single file and information that we have about all animals...over 10,000 photos of all the rescues that we've had...anything that we've had to do with animals is gone," Shuter says.
She stresses the thief would have no use for the stolen computer.
"It's absolutely useless information to you, and it means a lifetime of work for us," Shuter says. "It means the care and comfort that we give to these abused and rescued animals, and without it, we're really stuck to continue on."
She says it won't be impossible to carry on without the hard drive, but it will be difficult.
