WATCH: SQ investigating after trucker posts video of road-rage incident on the 20

It seems a trucker who posted a lengthy video of a recent road rage confrontation on Highway 20 off the western tip of the island to YouTube, might get a little blowback from his attempt to shame his road rival.

CJAD news has been told by the SQ that the truck driver, as well as the motorist he recorded on his dash-cam for 13 minutes, are being investigated for various infractions of the Highway Code.

The video, filmed on March 17, shows numerous cases of brake-checking, riding the bumper of the vehicle ahead, and numerous lane changes without signalling.

The person in the passenger vehicle should have their licence removed. Clearly they don't know the rules of the road.
It all started with the passenger vehicle not understanding what yield/cedez means. Unfortunately there are many in Quebec that missed that part of the regulations

Most truck drivers are jerks and out of control on our roads and this guy is no different...why would he try to provoke thus ...with his horn or repeatedly trying to pass him...and you no what he could have probably leg the guy merge to begin with...

I hope the truck driver doesn't get into too much trouble ... He really didn't do anything wrong. But the Van driver should have his licence taken away for what he did - not only was it illegal but very dangerous for both the truck driver and himself.

Whoever wrote this article implying that the truck driver was ever in the wrong obviously never watched the video.

This piece of garbage driving the mini-van needs to be arrested on the spot. He was brake checking, zig zagging back and forth cutting the trucker off then slowing down to prevent the driver from getting out of this bad situation.

Only in freaking Quebec is a Yield sign considered a "right-of-way" for traffic merging onto the artery instead of yielding like they should.

The driver in the minivan should have his brain examined , he was coming into traffic, he needs to yield, does this moron think a a highway rig can just stop on a dime carrying 50 tons.... seen this too many times on the road drivers who think they're smart playing chicken with a tractor trailer.... idiot in minivan has a death wish...

i don't think the SQ should be going after the truck driver he did nothing wrong ans in fact is pointing out how many idiots we have on our roads.

The drive of the SUV is clearly trying antagonize the truck driver. He deserves to lose his license after this. This person could have caused a serious accident let alone get himself or the truck driver killed. It is unfortunate but this happens way too often. You only have 1 life and once it is gone it does not come back. Driving is a priviledge.

I've had these grocery wagons/soccer moms play games with me at the 401.

Well, at least TRY to play games with me.

The trucker should receive a medal for not doing what should have been done - which is run the minivan off the road.

I can only fervently hope that the SQ uses this video to track down and prosecute the minivan driver to the full extent of the law.

As for the trucker, no charges whatsoever are called for!

After watching this video it seems to me that there is no end to idiot drivers with a sense of entitlement on the road.

CJAD, PLEASE follow up on this story. The SQ had better put this car driver UNDER the Jailhouse! Revoke his or.....her (hey, never know) licence for life. First of all, yes, it's courteous to move over for incoming traffic, but it's the person getting on who has to yield, not the person already on the highway...Quebec Highway Safety Code, DIVISION IV, Section 403. This person in the van is an absolute idiot, and I object to my "No Fault Insurance" premiums protecting fools like this. I don't see what exactly the truck driver would be charged for. His speed limiter was on at 105km/h as per the law, and from what see he did everything possible, short of pulling over, to avoid a confrontation. I can't say it enough, this car driver is extremely dangerous and should not be allowed on the road EVER again. I'd lay criminal charges. And If the truck driver has any fines, I hope SOSticket will represent him free of charge.

OMG I did not see the truck driver do anything wrong. But the he truck driver was not mini van is he a idiot He slowed down to make sure the truck got on his bumper so the truck could not go any faster. He cut the truck off so many times and would not stop. The mini van is at fault 100%

Clearly, the van driver should end up in jail.

I work in the Industrial Park in Coteau du Lac. I take that on-ramp (EXIT #17) every day on my way home. It's extremely dangerous. You have about 30 feet to merge onto the highway. It's not enough time to safely merge and in all fairness to the truck driver he may have not had enough time to change lanes. He probably did not have visibility of the car trying to merge until the it was too late.

I encourage you to take a look at the video again and see how quickly that car appeared next to the trucker. I am suprised noone has been killed yet.

I think they're both idiots. The trucker kept blowing his horn for sustained periods of time when it wasn't necessary and the other driver was obviously spoiling for a confrontation by continually switching lanes. It was almost like watching the Steven Spielberg movie "Duel" with Dennis Weaver. They should both get fined.

Count to 10 and just back off...So many idiots on the road that you can't control but control yourself and say relax..

Sorry but i agree with the driver.. Sooo many times been cut of by truckers while merging.. The truck could have moved to the left lane when the van merged at the beging of the vid.

For those that think its no big deal, try merging on hwy 13 n from cote de liesse service road around 3 ish ( in the tunnel).. You will TRUELLY understand the reason the little van was agrivated... A lot of these truckers don't give a ***** !

@T5 Let's see...slow down/ stop 1 tonne minivan doable in 30 feet. Slowdown or stop a 50 tonne truck doing 105km in 30 feet...DREAM ON!! Minivan should have slowed down and allowed truck to pass. Don't see what was on other side of truck when minivan was "merging". Can't tell if there was a vehicle beside truck preventing him from moving over. He's damn lucky truck didn't ram his back end with the garbage he was pulling. Hope they find the idiot and throw the book at him

@T5 T5: The truck maybe could have moved left, assuming there was nobody there, out of courtesy. But he is certainly not obliged to by law, and it is folly to assume he would. You will get yourself killed thinking that way!
