Some boroughs delaying parking restriction changes because of snow buildup

A few Montreal boroughs are postponing a change to the application of parking restrictions because of last Sunday's big snow dump.

Instead of beginning on April 1, parking restrictions will be applied beginning on Friday, April 4 in the Plateau Mont-Royal and Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve boroughs.

The restrictions will start April 7 in the downtown Ville Marie borough, Cote-des-Neiges-NDG, Outremont, Sud-Ouest, St. Leonard, RDP-Pointe-aux-Trembles, Lachine, Rosemont-Petite-Patrie, Villeray-St-Michel-Park Extension.

On Monday, the city of Montreal announced it would let the weekend's snow melt on the streets and sidewalks, rather than undertake another costly snow removal operation.

Daytime highs in Montreal are expected to climb well above zero for the rest of the week.
