Vrai changement pour Montréal-Groupe Mélanie Joly has missed the deadline to submit its finances, but a party representative says it's on the way.
The Montreal Gazette reports Vrai changement was the only party from last year's municipal election to not file its financial documents on time.
Vrai changement general director Frédéric Lepage told the paper the party was to hand in their report on Friday. The actual deadline was April 1.
However, Lepage says the report was prepared late and there was not enough time to get the report to an auditor before Friday.
According to Lepage, in order to file election financial documents with the city, reports need to be filed along with a second report from a third party auditor.
Lepage added he expects Quebec's chief electoral officer to fine the party $50 each day the report is delayed.
Joly finished second in the Montreal mayoralty race last November, but according to The Gazette her party raised the lowest amount in personal financial contributions.
Vrai changement raised $132,622 in personal contributions. In comparison, Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre's team amassed $454,000, the most out of any party.
