Archie comic book character to be killed off

Archie comic book character will be killed off in "Life with Archie".

Not even Archie Andrews is immortal in the world of comics.

Archie Comics says the famous comic book character will heroically sacrifice himself while saving the life of a friend in a July instalment of ``Life with Archie.''

The comic book series tells the story of grown-up renditions of Archie and his Riverdale gang.

Archie's final moments will be detailed in ``Life with Archie'' No. 36, while issue No. 37 will jump forward a year and focus on his friends Jughead, Betty, Veronica and Reggie honouring the legacy of their red-headed pal, who first appeared in comics in 1941.

Archie Comics publisher and co-CEO Jon Goldwater says they've been building up to this moment since launching ``Life with Archie'' five years ago.

I don't agree that Archie should be killed off. He is the star of the comic. Once he is gone that's it, over, the beginnning of the end of Archie.

@sharon hazel Unfortunately, this short blurb doesn't explain fully that it is only this particular comic's storyline that is being "killed off", not Archie of Archie comics. He will still be around in the other titles such as "Betty and Veronica", "Jughead", "Riverdale high", etc.
