A Quebec businessman is poised to take over the international arm of Bixi.
The bike rental company is being broken up in bankrupcty, with the local operation taken over by the City of Montreal.
La Presse is reporting that, after several weeks of negotiations, Bruno Rodi has agreed to pay $4-million cash for the right to overseas expansion of the Bixi concept, patents and software.
59-year old Rodi made his money in furniture manufacturing and real estate. He is also an adventurer who has skied to the North and South Poles.
He is expected to hire many of the Bixi employees now facing lay-off due to the bankruptcy.
