Montreal businesses are getting ready for the playoffs which will see the Montreal Canadiens square off against rival teams starting Wednesday.
And the longer they're in the playoffs,...
"The more money I make," laughed Ziggy Eichenbaum, owner of Ziggy's Pub on Crescent Street.
"Last year was fantastic, but they were eliminated in the first round. So this year we're hoping to go to the finals."
Eichenbaum said customers have been buzzing about it for weeks now and like other bars and restaurants, he's adding extra staff for game nights.
"We knew it for awhile and it's absolutely fantastic because this year, we didn't get the summer early so that's going to help us huge," Eichenbaum told CJAD 800 News.
Sports Crescent, located a few steps away on Ste Catherine St. West, has stocked up on Carey Price jerseys, a hot seller, and other Habs paraphernalia. Manager Santana Enrique wishes the schedule was more shopper friendly.
"Sunday, Tuesday, very boring days," Enrique said.
"Sunday is a church day, grocery day, cleaning day at home. I don't think it's going to be busy downtown."
Eichenbaum said he believes it'll be busy no matter what.
"Really, the Montreal Canadiens are helping us, bars and restaurants, we appreciate it, we're all behind them," he said.
Enrique meantime discourages any fair weather attitude.
"Come and support your team, wear red, put a flag in your car, support your team no matter what the result is."
