New hope for Train de l'Ouest

Boosters of the Train de l'Ouest commuter rail project have high hopes now that the Couillard Liberals are in power.

During the election campaign leader Philippe Couillard promised to revive the stalled plan to upgrade train service between downtown and Vaudreuil-Dorion.

The Train de l'Ouest coalition has told La Presse that it will seek a meeting with the Liberal Transport Minister as soon as Couillard's cabinet is sworn in.

The goal of the upgrade is to triple the number of runs on the line by securing a dedicated train track for the service.
