Electric vehicle enthusiasts are gathering at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve this weekend for what they are calling "Get Connected Day."
Organizers are billing the event as both a coming together of the province's electic vehicle community and an opportunity to talk up the benefits and pleasures of driving greem.
At the track are electric cars, hybrid cars, hybrid motorcycles - and lots of proud owners.
Created by the National Advanced Transportation Center the day is meant to draw over 500 electric or hybrid vehicle owners down to the track this weekend.
The CNTA's Frederic Prigge says that while there are only about 3,000 owners in the province, that number is growing.
Quebec, he says, is well placed to see the number skyrocket.
"We probably the most logical place in North America" to sell electric cars, he says. "We have pretty steep gas prices in Quebec, and pretty cheap electricity. Maybe the best differential is here."
The province offers subsidies of up to eight thousand dollars to drivers who buy electric and hybrid vehicles
But Prigge says the federal government is the only one in the G20 not to offer any
