No state funeral for longtime Liberal MP

There will be no state funeral for long-time parliamentarian Herb Gray, who died yesterday.

The Prime Minister's Office has announced that while the government is offering to help family members in making funeral arrangements, a state funeral is not on the table.

The Windsor, Ontario, Liberal was a fixture on Parliament Hill for four decades and was deputy prime minister under Jean Chretien.

    And why not? Because he is a liberal in a ruling conservative government? How do they pick and choose who gets a state funeral?
