Motorist who was being pulled over hits police officer in Cartierville

A scary incident in Cartierville, in the city's north end, Thursday evening involving a police officer and a suspect.

Authorities say the officer, who was riding a bike, was struck by a vehicle driven by the suspect, who got away.

The vehicle was being stopped at the time, but it's not clear why.

It happened on Cousineau, just north of Gouin.

"There's no threat for his life, suffers no injuries right now, but it's considered as a hit and run and also an armed assault", said police spokesman Simon Delorme.

Two other officers, also on bikes, were with the officer who was hit, but they were not injured.

An investigation is underway.
