The Quebec based-retailer Simons moved quickly this week, to pull a series of children's duvet covers from store shelves, after it learned that the design had been plagiarized.
The issue came to a head on social media such as Twitter and Facebook, with photos of the copies posted online and eventually making their way to the company and the original designer.
Amélie Roy says she was shocked, not even aware that this sort of thing was going on.
Says she was also surprised about how good the copies were, including the same wording, typography and other fine details.
Simons says it condemns the knock-off industry and has asked it's Australian supplier for an explanation.
