Habs fans have been waiting and preparing for the second round of the playoffs. The Canadiens start their best of seven series against the Bruins in Boston at 7:30 tonight.
“I’m just full of energy, only getting about four hours of sleep a night,” superfan Bob Clavel said.
“I put a hockey puck in his crib so he can learn to play with it and love the game," Stephanie Darwish, another superfan said of her nine month old baby.
Montrealers are showing their pride all over the city. Annakin Slayd created a playoff song — which will debut at 7:30 tonight on TSN 690 just before the puck drops. TSN 690, incidentally, will carry the game live.
“We’re a hockey crazy city and we need a soundtrack for that craziness,” he said.
Evenko and the Canadiens are also holding a second free viewing party tonight at Metropolis. Doors open at 6 PM.
“The first party was so insane we had about a thousand people there, it was loud!” Sandra Rinaldi with Evenko said.
Businesses say the longer the Habs are in, the more sales will grow.
“Come that third or fourth round, if we’re lucky enough, then things can really get wild,” Jeffrey Picard, manager at Pub Brutopia on Crescent, said.
“You definitely see a rise in sales; people are in such a festive mood,” Paul Desbaillets, the owner of Pub Burgundy Lion, said.
The stakes are high for Mayor Denis Coderre too.
At 4:30 today he'll officially try to place a bet with Boston Mayor Marty Walsh.
Coderre says the second round loser would have to fly the other team's flag outside city hall.
The losing mayor would also have to wear the other team's jersey.
