The building housing the soon-to-be-closed Queen of Angels Academy will be turned into a co-ed elementary school in the fall.
The semi-private girls' high school is working with Collège Ste-Anne, a French-language school and CEGEP in Lachine, to open a bilingual elementary school in the building by September of 2015.
Queen of Angels Academy has occupied the site on Bouchard Blvd. in Dorval since 1959. In January, the school announced the current school year would be its last, citing declining enrolment and a "challenging financial situation".
Earlier this week, a section of the campus was officially rezoned to allow for a condo project to go up on the soccer field.
Both Queen of Angels and Collège Ste-Anne were founded in the 19th century by the Congregation of the Sisters of Ste-Anne.
