McGill electrician injured after 10-metre fall

A McGill University electrician was badly injured yesterday afternoon when he apparently fell out of a building service door on the second floor of the Ferrier Building.

The man, in his early 20's, had been doing some work involving smoke and fire detectors when he went through the double doors and fell about 10-metres to the pavement below.

He was rushed to hospital with multiple injuries and the Journal de Montreal reports his condition was described as critical late yesterday.

The Ferrier Building houses the McGill power plant.

The Worker Health and Safety Board (CSST) is investigating the incident.

This is so incredibly sad! I cannot stop thinking about his family and how this poor man's life is so suddenly changed forever.

I think about him every time I look out my office window and see the building he fell from.
