Restaurants upset with Denis Coderre's food truck remarks

The Quebec Association of Restaurant Owners is ticked off at Montreal mayor Denis Coderre for making it seem like the expansion of the food truck pilot project is a fait accompli.

At yesterday's launch of the food truck season, Denis Coderre had said he'd like to see food trucks all over Montreal depending on demand and accessibility.

Spokesperson for Quebec's restaurant association Dominique Tremblay told CJAD 800 News that did not sit well with their members, insulted and baffled by the mayor's hasty comments and concerned about an explosion of food trucks.

"If the recommendation that would be made or the decision that will be taken by the steering committee, that he doesn't consider those recommendations, then why are we sitting on this committee?" Tremblay said.

And while Coderre insists it's not a done deal,

"You need some rules, you need a game plan but if we can expand it, I think it's the right time and what's the problem with that?" Coderre said.

Since coming to power, it seems like every single time Coderre opens his mouth he puts his foot in it. I really believe we have a dud in power in Montreal.

He's probably the only mayor since Drapeau that's trying to make Montreal fun, exciting & international. Coderre is full of energy & positive thinking. The past few years Montreal has been dull & negative. Good to be Refreshing againl!!!!
