WATCH: Denis Coderre makes a friendly wager with Boston counterpart

As it often does, hockey fever has reached into the highest offices of the cities involved.

Montreal's mayor Denis Coderre spoke on speakerphone with his Boston counterpart Marty Walsh to place a bet.

He told Walsh if Montreal wins, Walsh will have to wear a Habs jersey and fly the Canadiens' flag over Boston City Hall for a week.

Coderre will have to do the same if the Bruins win the series.

The losing mayor will also have to visit the winner's city.

Coderre said in a statement that he can't wait for the Boston mayor to visit Montreal, saying sports represents "the beginning of a great friendship and partnership."
