The West Island Palliative Care Residence is getting a $2.5-million boost.
The donation comes from the Trottier Family Foundation. It's the largest single donation to date for the residence. The money is being given over a five year period.
The residence needs about $3-million a year to fund its operations. It gets only about one-third of its funding from the Quebec government, the rest coming from donations.
The residence has been providing free end-of life care to more than 2500 terminally ill patients since it opened in 2002.
