Parents in NDG are expressing their concerns over the traffic nightmare that the area has become.
There are road and sewer repairs, the MUHC superhospital project, and ramp closures at the Turcot interchange — all of which taken together has made NDG a nightmarish place to get around, whether you're a motorist or a pedestrian.
Dominique Sorel walks her two daughters to school ever morning. She's baffled that the transport ministry and the borough can let it all happen.
"It's a very hard coexistence right now, and the authorities need to plan things better," she says. "People are living in this neighborhood and they have a right to safety."
She and others are demanding more crosswalks and stop signs in the neighborhood, and are wary about another move that could make an already difficult situation worse -- a reserved bus lane that's supposed to go into effect on Sherbrooke St. this month.
