Habs beat Boston; advance to conference final

The Montreal Canadiens advanced to the NHL's Eastern Conference final with a 3-1 victory over the Boston Bruins in Game 7 of their playoff series.

Max Pacioretty's second period goal was the eventual winner as Montreal built a 2-0 lead by the 10:22 mark of the period.

Jarome Iginla's goal late in the second period was Boston's only offence.

Taking nothing away from another stellar performance from Carey Price, last night's game was probably the worst game seven of the 2014 play-offs. Certainly nothing like the Hawks/Wild game seven the night before. Its clearly obvious that the NHL has the refs towing the line to insure that the only canadian team goes deep into the finals. Its the only way we can insure the many marketing dollars from advertisers in Canada. Just look at the early calls like the goalie interference call that wasn't. And the snow wash call and let us not forget the insurance call at the end of the game. The bruins had no chance of winning the game and they knew it. That's why they didn't contest the calls, fight, or complain about the non-calls like the unsportsmanlike call missed on Gallagher on Chara at the face-off circle. Certainly, if you are going to call the snow wash, you must call the trip too.
Too bad, hockey fans were robbed of a chance at a classic game 7 rivalry.

@Leo While i think the Hab's just about deserved the series win, it is clear that the refereeing in the NHL has sunk to a low now. There is no consistency in any of the playoff match ups. The rules should apply all year round not just the regular season. If they did no one would have the right to complain either way. Hockey is being diluted for the American markets now.
The fans are being gouged by poor refereeing and after the present CBC deal expires there will be no free hockey viewing for fans anymore.

Eliminating the Bruins is better than winning the cup. Winning the cup would be the icing on the cake....... Hello New York !
