Have you noticed more cars with Habs flags as the Montreal Canadiens continue to advance in the playoffs? Turns out the only Canadian manufacturer making them has sold out.
“As of Thursday morning we sold out of car flags, large flags, foam fingers and tattoos. The car flag is the number one selling product,” Anita Chandan, general manager for Hunter Canada, said.
“The majority of our sales right now are in Quebec but we have received orders from across Canada, this has become a Canadian team not just a Montreal team.”
Chandan says they've been producing overtime to make sure their retailers, like the Montreal Canadiens Boutique, Target and Canadian Tire, can stock their shelves.
“We’re producing 12 000 to 15 000 flags per day. We’ll be in production this weekend just to keep up with the demand."
“Our feeling is that Montreal is going to go forward, we are in the process of doing our planning and product design for championship.”
There are two other American manufacturers that supply the flags in Canada.
The average price for a car flag is $19.99.
