"Don't count the Canadiens out just yet." : Rene Bourque's Dad after son's playoff hat trick

Big win for the Montreal Canadiens in Game 5 last night at the Bell Centre.

The Habs staved off elimination with the 7-4 victory, forcing a Game 6 in New York Thursday night but it was the performance of left wing Rene Bourque that is getting all the attention today, with many suggesting Bourque helped save the Canadiens' season.

Bourque had the Bell Centre going wild with his first playoff hat trick of his career.

His Dad, Gary Bourque, couldn't be prouder.

" It was a great night for me and the family and the community." he told CJAD's Aaron Rand Wednesday afternoon.

Bourque says after his son's three goals, the small community of Lac La Biche, Edmonton celebrated - some by tossing hats on his lawn to mark the career first.

The senior Bourque predicts tomorrow night's game will be an interesting one.

"I guess when you're determined and focused and the line is playing unbelievable for one another, stuff like this happens. It doesn't happen all the time, but last night was the night."
