A 29-year-old woman is recovering in hospital this morning after she was shot while in her apartment in Pointe-aux-Trembles.
The gunfire came through her back apartment window on Versailles street around 10:35 p.m.
Police were flooded with calls reporting the incident, and when officers showed up to the scene, they found the woman insider her apartment with a bullet in her leg.
Her life is not in danger.
"She is not known to police," said Montreal police Constable Jean-Pierre Brabant. "There will have to be some more questioning about this to know if there any threat in the past days or weeks."
The suspect fled the scene and the canine unit was called in.
This may be a case of mistaken identity, but it's still too early to confirm, according to Brabant.
