Some good news and some bad news for motorists travelling to and from the south shore this weekend.
For the first time in weeks, there will be no roadwork happening on the Champlain Bridge — the so-called "superbeam" having been removed last week. And the metro's yellow line will be in full operation to take Grand Prix revellers to and from the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.
The Mercier Bridge, however, will be a trouble spot — only one lane will be available in each direction from 10 p.m. Friday evening and 5 a.m. on Monday morning.
Preparations will be made for some more extensive repair work on the bridge taking place over seven weeks, beginning the weekend of June 21.
In addition, the ramp from westbound Highway 20 to Route 138 will be closed all weekend, from Friday at 11 p.m.
