Family and friends said a final farewell today to former Montreal mayoral candidate Marcel Côté.

A funeral was held at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex.

The 71-year old businessman died May 25th of a heart attack while taking part in a cycling event.

Côté, who was an economist, volunteered to be a special advisor to Mayor Coderre following his election defeat in November.

He advised a number of ministers and top politicians, both at the federal and provincial level.

Côté was a founding partner of a long-established consulting firm.

Mayor Denis Coderre called Côté a "great Montrealer."
