Ex-Liberal organizer Bibeau denies taking funds

Former Quebec Liberal party organizer Pierre Bibeau took the stand today at the Charbonneau Commission, and denied allegations that he solicited illegal political donations — specifically, a $30,000 donation from former entrepreneur Lino Zambito.

He also denied raising money for former Liberal cabinet minister — and his former spouse — Line Beauchamp.

Bibeau said he never saw cash going circulating at the party's offices in the early 2000s, while he served as the Liberals' chief organizer.

Bibeau is a longtime Liberal stalwart and former vice-president at Loto-Quebec.
