Projet Montreal wants free access to Botanical Garden back

Projet Montreal is calling on the Botanical Garden to bring back free access to the park.

Montrealers used to have free access to the Botanical Garden between 6-9 AM and then again from 6 PM to dusk.

But after it was vandalised last year, the park changed its policy.

It now closes at 6 PM and early risers have to pay 8 dollars to access the park between 6-9 AM.

Projet Montreal City Councillor Érika Duchesne says most vandalism happens overnight and Montrealers should get some free access back.

“When it was created it was to give access to nature to Montrealers and it’s not the same nature as a regular park, it’s very special,” Duchesne said.

“It belongs to all Montrealers and they should have access to it,” she continued.

Projet Montreal will be filing a motion at the next city council meeting to get the schedule changed.

These museums/attractions should be free ALWAYS. They are educational and should not be for profit.
