Lachine man dead following car accident

One man is dead following two seperate accidents in the span of 30 minutes last night on Montreal highways.

The Surete du Quebec says a 79-year-old man from Lachine has died after an accident that occurred on Highway 20 at about 9 p.m. in the area of Woodland Avenue.

According to SQ spokesperson Ann Mathieu, the speed of the vehicle might be a factor, and the man could have been driving impaired. An investigation is underway.

The second incident took place on Highway 40 near Saint-Miche about 30 minutes later and involves a 56-year-old Montreal woman.

In both cases, drivers were traveling alone and no other vehicles were involved.
