Pressure on the government for more Urgences Santé ambulances

Urgences Santé says its paramedics in Montreal and Laval will take action tonight for what it says is a critical shortage of resources.

It says more ambulances should be on the road, that year-long talks with the government have failed to produce a solution.

"What we're doing tonight is, starting at midnight, we're gonna ask our paramedics not do any adminstrative paperwork related to the billing. They will do their clinical documents, of course, it won't hurt the population at all", said union spokesman Yvon Bonesso.

The tactic applies to calls where it takes an ambulance more than 15 minutes to respond.

It's not not clear long how the tactic will go on.

Some 40 ambulances are expected to be involved in applying pressure tonight with as many as 70 on Sunday morning.

Urgences Sante is a joke. The staff are under trained, under equipped, and under staffed. Any good we are able to do is in spite on Urgences Sante, not because of it. How is is fair that everyone in North America, gets better prehospital care than Quebecers. The people in charged on prehospital care in this province should be charged with criminal negligence.
