Leo Bureau-Blouin becomes president of the PQ youth wing

A former leader of the powerful Quebec student movement that spurred massive protests two years ago is taking a new role with the pro-independence Parti Quebecois.

Leo Bureau-Blouin was officially made president of the PQ's youth wing today after running unopposed for the position.

The 22-year-old says he wants to generate more interest in the provincial party among young Quebecers by putting the separatist cause front-and-centre.

Recent opinion polls suggest support for the PQ among youth has slipped considerably.

Bureau-Blouin left student politics to run for the PQ in the 2012 provincial election, becoming the youngest person ever elected a member of the National Assembly.

He lost his seat in the April provincial election, when the Quebec Liberals ousted the PQ from power and won a majority of seats in the legislature.

Really? Winning unopposed? I suppose no one else was interested in a useless position.
    Very impressive.
Well, all I can say is good luck convincing the very few separatists left.
The young people of Quebec are smart as the polls show.
Mr Blouin has one hell of an ego.

He looses the election and becomes president of the youth wing. Sound like a Saturday Night Live sketch. Wonder what Martine is doing these days...

This guy sold out the students as the PQ clawed back the tax credit. What ever the students fought for, this dude took it back with the PQ anti student mentality. This guy should leave and go into the pots and pans business.

Wow! What an accomplishment. To be the "unopposed head of the youth wing of the PQ party" should be interpreted as "nobody else is stupid enough to want to be the head of the youth wing of a party that is quickly losing its influence with those who have finally come to their senses, realizing this ridiculous dream of separation is nothing more than a dream by myopic, simple minded followers, so they gave the position to this young, immature follower".
I'm amazed this even made the news.
