Train and car collide in L'Isle-Verte, leaving one dead

An 18 year-old motorist is dead after a car collided with a train last night around 8:15 p.m. in L'Isle-Verte.

Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Claude Denis says the driver was alone in the vehicle.

There are no barriers at the train crossing, only warning lights.

Denis says the SQ is investigating whether the warning lights were working properly at the time of the accident, adding it is too early to speculate a cause for the collision.
