Quebec celebrates

Celebrations for the 180th edition of the Fete National continues with thousands of festivities in most regions of Quebec.

Weather permitting of course.

The program includes major and 23 regional events, from Montreal North to N.D.G., as well as Pointe Claire and Laval.

In total this year, the public may attend 6,000 activities on more than 700 sites; 1100 shows are forecast in all corners of the province.

In Montreal, the traditional parade will be held on Sherbrooke street beginning corner Place De Lery, from 2:30 p.m. on.

The big show is at 9 p.m. at Maisonneuve park featuring Michel Rivard, France D' Damour, Daniel Boucher and others.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is scheduled to deliver a speech marking the holiday in St-Lazare-de-Bellechasse, about a three hour drive northeast of Montreal.

    Harper sticking to relatively safe territory as he may not receive a good reception in some other areas of the province.
