UPDATE: Man dies in hospital after stabbing in Côte-des-Neiges

A man in his 40s has died after being discovered by paramedics stabbed in a Cote-des-Neiges alley at Mountain Sights near Paré last night around 9 p.m.

"A 9-1-1 call was placed by a paramedic of Urgences Santé asking the Montreal police department to come over on Mountain Sights near Paré street because they were in the presence of a man, aged in his 40's, who was attacked by an edged weapon", said police Montreal spokesman Jean-Pierre Brabant.

The victim was taken immediately to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries around 1 a.m this morning.

Brobant says homicide investigators have now taken over the case. A perimeter was set up and police subsequently met with witnesses.

It is unclear if the man was already familiar to police.
