The suspect in the Monday night stabbing death of a 40 year old Cote des Neiges man appeared in court today.
Amalam Thandapanthesigar spoke very little and the court communicated with the 34-year-old through a translator.
He is the neighbour of the victim, Jeyaran Manikarajah, and is the man police say stabbed him to death.
Thandapanthesigar wore a pink and white striped polo shirt over his slight frame, his hair thinning and sporting a close-cropped beard.
The victim's family say both he and the accused are from the same village in Sri Lanka.
Police say a love triangle between the suspect, the victim and the victim's wife was originally considered a motive but later abandoned.
Thandapanthesigar's next appearance is July 18.
