A four-story building partially collapsed in Westmount Wednesday afternoon.

It's the building that once housed the Vanguard School on Metcalfe Ave. below Ste. Catherine St.

A beam fell at around 1 o'clock this afternoon, forcing the evacuation of some nearby homes.

      No one was hurt.

Mayor Peter Trent told CJAD News Wednesday evening that forced out residents were allowed back.

The building is in the process of being demolished to make way for a new condo tower.
